MDOT is working to create better, safer roadways for all users by providing a variety of services and information supporting recreational cycling and bicycle commuting. Biking in Michigan

Road and trail bike maps are available and bicyclists are urged to prepare their own assessment of traffic, roads, and trails, and plan routes appropriate to their riding skills.

This new hiking and bicycling route showcases Michigan’s spectacular natural, cultural and historic resources. It builds upon Michigan’s extensive trail network, linking many existing trails to provide you with a signature Pure Michigan experience.

Explore Michigan by bicycle! For additional information on bicycling in Michigan or possible routes contact the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) or Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance (MTGA).

MDOT and its partners have created a series of multi-county regional maps showing road surface type, traffic volume ranges, paved/unpaved shared use paths with regional significance, recreational facilities, points of interest, plus other facilities and amenities which help make cycling across Michigan an enjoyable tourism experience.
